Normal motion of the first four cervical vertebral joint mechanoreceptors stimulates endorphin production by the CNS. Forward head posture, loss of cervical curve and atlas mal-positions blocks normal neck motion and DRAMATICALLY reduces the amount of endorphin production!!! Cervical injuries alter and disrupt the position and function of
C1-C4 and affect the following: 1. Muscles that Control Eye Movement 2.Posture 3.Balance 4.Gait 5.Ability to taste, smell and execute speech 6.Ability to swallow and swallowing patterns 7. TMJ muscle tension and coordinated movement 8.Mandibular-cranial position and posture 9.Dexterity 10.Rotatory vertigo and bilateral tinnitus (Raymond, 1977; Molina and Wyke, 1965;Cailliet and Gross, 1987)

- Altering the afferent input from the upper cervical region (LOSS OF CERVICAL CURVE) can result in disturbances in gait, dizziness, loss of balance and ataxia etc. (Neurology India, 49, December 2001: 355-359)

LOSS OF ARC OF LIFE CAUSES CONSTIPATION! Forward head posture can add up to thirty (30) pounds of abnormal leverage on the spine, therefore abnormal position of the head can pull the entire spine out of alignment/ The entire gastrointestinal system is affected particularly the large intestine. Loss of good bowel parastaltic function and evacuation is a common effect of forward head posture, loss of cervical curve and atlas mal-positions and also increases discomfort and pain which decreases the amount of normal endorphin production in the brain and spinal cord.

*98.7% of children with A.D.D. have subluxated Atlas bones (Burl Pettibon,2005)

Uncorrected cervical subluxations cause the patient to suffer from loss of balance, along with additional side effects (Cailliet and Gross, 1987)

The study, published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, says that out of 1250 infants
chosen at random, 211 of them suffered from nervousness, vomiting, muscular abnormalities, tremors and insomnia. 95% (200) of those children had abnormal cervical (neck) muscle strain indicating vertebral subluxation. When the subluxation was adjusted and the muscle strain removed, an immediate calming often resulted, the children's crying stopped, the muscles relaxed and thechildren fell asleep.

Dr. Gotfried Guttman, M.D. found that childhood SUBLUXATIONS had received "... far too little attention" and that due to the frequent occurrence of such problems (especially surrounding the birth process), he recommended that a chiropractic spinal checkup should be performed as soon as possible after birth.

There is no shortage of life-transforming events occurring at YFCC. This past Saturday, a group of about 25 YFCC patients participated in their first ever 5k run/walk race event. We all had a blast. This event was a milestone for many patients as they used the experience to transcend many previously perceived physical limitations. Below are a few pictures from the day. YFCC patients can be seen holding their medals as they smile with a sense of VICTORY...THEY ARE THE REAL CHAMPIONS!
